SHREVEPORT, La. - The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team suffered its second consecutive heart-breaking defeat Friday, falling 2-1 at Centenary in the Wildcats' SCAC opener.
A week after falling to Colorado College in overtime, the Wildcats allowed the Gents to score the game-winning goal in the 81st minute off the foot of Wil Escobar. Escobar scored both goals for Centenary earning his team a split of the season series after JWU posted a 3-1 decision at home in a non-league matchup on Sept. 15.
Freshman Ezequiel Chavez scored in just his second game with the Wildcats, giving JWU a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute with his unassisted score.
The Wildcats return to action Sunday at St. Thomas (1 p.m.).
