Wildcats suffer another heart-breaking defeat

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team suffered its second consecutive heart-breaking defeat Friday, falling 2-1 at Centenary in the Wildcats' SCAC opener. 

A week after falling to Colorado College in overtime, the Wildcats allowed the Gents to score the game-winning goal in the 81st minute off the foot of Wil Escobar. Escobar scored both goals for Centenary earning his team a split of the season series after JWU posted a 3-1 decision at home in a non-league matchup on Sept. 15. 

Freshman Ezequiel Chavez scored in just his second game with the Wildcats, giving JWU a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute with his unassisted score. 

Sophomore Erick Torres made 11 saves in net for the Wildcats, who finished with 16 shots, included four each by Chavez and freshman Coby Zazueta

The Wildcats return to action Sunday at St. Thomas (1 p.m.).
