AURORA - The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team continued its string of tough defeats Friday against visiting Texas Lutheran.
Down 3-1 with just over 10 minutes to play in regulation, the Wildcats stormed back with a pair of goals in the span of seven minutes to send the SCAC matchup into overtime.
Sophomore AJ Watters headed home a free kick by Kyle Hernandez in the 80th minute to pull the Wildcats within a goal, 3-2, to ignite the comeback. After a scoreless first overtime period, the Bulldogs snagged the victory on an own goal by JWU in the 101st minute.
The Wildcats have now came up on the wrong end of four straight one-goal contests, three of which have gone to overtime.
After goals by TLU's Marco Roman and Luis Green in the first 20 minutes, Bashir-Mohammed struck from 20 yards out on feed by freshman Ezequiel Chavez to make it 3-1. Sophomores Brandon Coder and Erick Torres each played a half in net for the Wildcats, making three saves apiece.
