Johnson & Wales began the 2017 indoor track season on Saturday at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight Open.
Devon Phillips (Brooklyn, Mich.) ran the 60 meter with a finish of 27.63. In the 400 meter, Alan Almeida (Aurora, Colo.) finished in 14th place with a time of 55.29. Alberto Rodriguez (San Jacinto, Calif.) finished fourth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:00.23 followed by Bryce Moore (Loma, Colo.) in 20th at 2:17.32.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Corwin Scherer (Burbank, Calif.) finished sixth in the prelims with a time of 9.04 to advance to the finals. Phillips finished just outside of advancing to the finals with a time of 9.22 in 9th place. In the finals, Scherer improved his time to finish in third place with a time of 8.73.
In the 4x400 meter relay, Johnson & Wales finished in fifth with a time of 3:36.68.
The Wildcats return to action on February 4 at the CU Invitational in Boulder.
