Albert Rodriguez (San Jacinto, Calif.) represented the Wildcats on Friday in the 800 meter event at the 2017 NAIA Men's and Women's Indoor National Championships. The 52nd Annual event was hosted at David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field on the campus of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.
Rodriguez qualified for the national championships for his finish at the University of Colorado Invitational in February. At the national meet, Rodriguez was placed in the second heat and needed to finish in the top two of his heat or a top eight time to advance to the finals. Rodriguez led his heat with around 60 meters to go but came up just short, finishing with a time of 1:55.39 for fifth place in his heat and 11th overall.
With his nationals trip now over, Rodriguez will focus on the outdoor season. The Wildcats will open their outdoor portion of the season on March 25 at Colorado College.
