BOULDER – The Johnson & Wales University men's track and field team opened the 2019 outdoor season Saturday at the Jerry Quiller Classic hosted by the University of Colorado.
Coach Chris Sandefur used the early-season meet at Potts Field more as a training day than a competition.
The Wildcats competed in just two events – the 400- and 1,500-meter runs.
Junior Bryce Moore (Loma, CO) turned in the Wildcats' top time in both races. Moore finished fifth in his heat and 16th overall in the 1,500 after crossing the finish line at 4:16.05 Moore placed 11th overall in the 400 in 52.98.
Junior John Jacob (Aurora, OH) had JWU's second-best time in both events, placing 18th in the 1,500 in 4:20.27 and 14th in the 400 in 57.49.
Freshman Noah Llerandi (Boulder, CO) was 24th in the 1,500 in 4:35.43 while classmate Cody Lane (Fairmont, MN) was 27th in 5:04.47. Llerandi and Lane finished in 15th and 16th place, respectively, in the 400.
