Wildcats shake off the rust at Potts Invite

BOULDER - The Johnson & Wales University men's track and field team returned to competition for the first time in nearly a month on Saturday at the Potts Invitational hosted by the University of Colorado. 

Freshmen Albara Mutleq and Gaven Case each ran in both sprint events. Mutleq finished 33rd in the 60-meter dash in 7.63 seconds and 32nd in the 200 dash in 24.14. Case was 34th in the 60 in 7.64 and 34th in the 200 in 24.27. 

Six Wildcats ran the 1 mile, led by John Jacob's 27th-place finish in 4:40.99. Junior Emad Bashir-Mohammed was second on the team, crossing in 4:48.51, followed by Bryce Moore (4:52.93), Oticio Herrera (5:00.54), Kennan Rimbert (5:23.22) and Evan Salazar (6:21.28).

The Wildcats return to action next Saturday at the Scott Nisely Memorial Indoor Classic at Doane University in Crete, Neb.
