The Wildcats dropped the final match of their season series to #5 Hope International in a Friday night matchup in Fullerton, California. The 'Cats held an early 7-4 lead in the opening set before the host Royals went on a 7-0 run to overtake the lead. Hope International continued to put together short scoring bursts to take the 25-16 win.
In the second set, the two sides traded points early before HIU put together a four point run to jump out front 11-7. After trading scoring opportunities the Royals again went on a 4-0 run to extend their lead and hold on to take the 25-18 victory.
The final set had Hope International capitalizing on early errors by the 'Cats to take a 9-2 lead. HIU continued to take advantage of the Wildcats and built up their lead. JWU wasn't able to put together a scoring run of their own as the dropped the final set 11-25.
Josh Buted (Honolulu, Hawaii) recorded 8 kills for the Wildcats. Cody Sutton (Gilbert, Ariz.) finished with eight digs. Beau Osborne and Matthew Hanson each had eight kills for HIU while Filip Tomicic put up 24 set assists.
The Wildcats will open their home schedule on March 6 when they host Cardinal Stritch University at 7pm in the Wildcat Center.
