Wildcats open strong at Joe Vigil Invitational

The Wildcats headed to southern Colorado on Saturday to begin their season at the Joe I. Vigil Invitational hosted by Adams State University.

The 8k course saw Steven Juarez (Gering, Neb.) cross the line first for JWU with a time of 28:09.80 to finish in 27th place. Freshman Bryce Moore (Loma, Colo.) was next for Johnson & Wales in 31st place with a time of 28:49.00.

The 'Cats had a string of finishers come across in 37th, 38th and 39th with Francisco Padilla (Aurora, Colo.) finishing at 30:12.00 followed by Alan Almeida (Aurora, Colo.) at 34:20.10. Corwin Scherer (Burbank, Calif.) finished at 35:08.50.

Johnson & Wales scored 103 points to finish in 4th place at the Joe Vigil Invitational.

The Wildcats will take part in the Western State Invitational in Gunnison next weekend.
