The Wildcats headed south to Las Vegas, New Mexico on Saturday for the 2017 New Mexico Highlands University Cross Country Jam. The event returned to the NMHU schedule after a 30-plus year break.
The 8K race featured teams from South Plains College, Eastern New Mexico, Colorado College, Dine College and hosts New Mexico Highlands. The first Wildcat across the finish line was Alberto Rodriguez (San Jacinto, Calif.) with a time of 28:07 in 19th place. Bryce Moore (Loma, Colo.) was second for Johnson & Wales with a time of 29:18 in 26th place. The final 'Cat was Abelardo Villegas (Irving, Texas) in 39th at 40:09.
The Wildcats will stay close to home for their next race as they take on the field at the 2017 Metro State University Roadrunner Invitational on Saturday, October 7 at Wash Park in Denver.
