Wildcats first at NMHU XC Jam

Johnson & Wales University grabbed first place at the 2018 New Mexico Highlands University Cross Country Jam on Saturday in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

The 8K race saw Alberto Rodriguez (San Jacinto, Calif.) take first place with a time of 27:12, just ahead of Bryce Moore (Loma, Colo.) in second at 28:02. Cody Lane (Fairmont, Minn.) was seventh overall with a time of 30:05 in front of Noah Llerandi (Boulder, Colo.) in 13th at 31:57.

Alan Almeida (Aurora, Colo.) finished in 14th place with a time of 32:06 ahead of Abelardo Villegas (Irving, Texas) in 15th at 32:24.

The Wildcats finished with 22 points to grab the team title on the men's side.

Johnson & Wales will head to Fort Hays State University's Tiger Invitational on October 13.
