The Wildcats traveled to Phoenix to kick off the second half of the season with a game at Arizona Christian on Saturday afternoon. The 'Cats looked to stop a three game skid and the Firestorm looked to stop their own four-game losing streak as well. The Firestorm opened a small lead in the first half only to see it short lived as the Wildcats clawed their way back into the contest to take a 26-25 lead with under seven minutes to play. Arizona Christian again put the brakes on JWU's offense and ACU took the 47-36 advantage into the locker room.
Out of the intermission, Johnson & Wales started sluggish but managed to bring the game to within five before the Firestorm pulled away and kept the game out of reach of the 'Cats. The Wildcats dropped their fourth consecutive contest and fell to under .500 for the first time this season in the 77-90 loss. Caitlin Durkin led a quartet of 'Cats in double digit scoring with 19 points and Jasmine Culbreath had 13 boards. Steffani Liscum led all scorers with 28 points for the Firestorm and also had a game high 14 rebounds.
Johnson & Wales (9-10, 1-2) will travel north this weekend to take on Mayville State and Valley City State in a pair of A.I.I. Conference matchups.
