Johnson & Wales hosted #14 Concordia University on Saturday evening the Wildcat's final game of their opening weekend.
The visiting Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-2 lead over the opening 2:30 of play. A layup and freethrow by McCorra Ford (Gillette, Wyo.) cut the deficit to five. By the end of the opening quarter, the Bulldogs had extended their lead to 27-12.
In the second quarter the Wildcats slowly started to chip away at the Bulldog's lead. Three consecutive three pointers by the 'Cats allowed them to cut into the CU advantage. The Bulldog's broke up the scoring run by Johnson & Wales and hit a couple shots late to take a 50-23 lead into the break.
In the second half the continued to press the Wildcats with a full court defense. With the extra pressure, the 'Cats offense slowed in the final 20 minutes. Johnson & Wales added a few buckets late but ultimately fell 40-89 to #14 Concordia.
Ford led Johnson & Wales with 12 points and brought down seven rebounds. Aubri Bro and Dani Anderson each had 15 points for the Bulldogs.
The Wildcats head to Phoenix this next week for a pair of contests at Arizona Christian University.
