JWU falls at Tabor

JWU stayed in Sterling, Kansas on Saturday for a neutral court matchup against Tabor College.

The Bluejays jumped out to a 6-0 lead to open the game but the Wildcats stormed back to tie the game 12-12 with just over two minutes left in the first quarter. The Bluejays extended their lead to 17-12 at the end of the first.

In the second quarter the 'Cats offense sputtered while Tabor started to find some momentum. By the end of the second, the Bluejays had built a 36-21 lead at the break. The Wildcats regrouped and cut an 18 point deficit down to seven points halfway through the quarter. A late push by Tabor put them up 15 on Johnson & Wales.

In the fourth, JWU again found some late momentum to chip away at the Bluejay's lead. The 'Cats cut a 21 point Tabor lead down to nine but it wasn't enough as JWU fell 54-63.

Cara McNiff (Aurora, Colo.) led Johnson & Wales with 14 points and McCorra Ford (Gillette, Wyo.) had a team high eight rebounds.

JWU travel to Presentation College on November 18.
