Ford's double-double not enough in loss

The Wildcats wrapped up 2016 with a loss to Sterling College as part of the Tabor College Holiday Classic.

The game started as a back and forth contest with the 'Cats holding the 13-12 lead after 10 minutes of play. The two sides battled with neither getting much of a lead over the other. Every time one side would build a small lead the other would come back to take it back. After the opening 20 minutes, the contest was knotted 25-25.

The back and forth continued in the third quarter with the game going into the fourth tied 44-44. After an even start to the quarter, the Warriors started to pull away midway through the quarter with a five point lead. The 'Cats came as close as four points but Sterling was able to hold off a late push by Johnson & Wales for the 72-63 victory.

McCorra Ford (Gillette, Wyo.) had a game high 20 points and 11 rebounds for Johnson & Wales and Hailey Davis led Sterling with 16 points.

The Wildcats will host Oglala Lakota College on Friday, January 13 to open 2017.
