The Wildcats closed out their December road schedule on Saturday with an afternoon matchup at University of Dallas.
The host Crusaders held the early 7-2 advantage through the opening five minutes as both teams struggled to get their offense going in the opening minutes. Dallas found a stride just under the five minute mark to push their lead up to 11-2. The 'Cats hit a few shots late in the quarter but Dallas had found some momentum to take a 24-11 lead into the second. The next 10 minutes had the Crusaders continuing to push the tempo and extending their lead. The Wildcats matched the Crusaders output late in the half but Dallas took a 41-20 lead into the break.
In the third quarter, University of Dallas opened the period with a 7-0 run to maintain their momentum. The Crusaders took a 57-29 lead into the break. In the fourth quarter, the 'Cats were able to right the ship and came out better offensively. Johnson & Wales was able to match the Crusaders offensively throughout the final 10 minutes but University of Dallas had built enough of a lead to take the 71-43 victory.
Brianna Aluya (Placentia, Calif.) led Johnson & Wales with 21 points and a game high nine rebounds. Celsi Caraway had 24 points for Dallas with Michelle DeCoud and Vanessa Diaz each pulling down eight rebounds.
The 'Cats return home to host Colorado College on Tuesday night at 7pm in the Wildcat Center.
