SHERMAN, TX - The Johnson & Wales University women's basketball team was unable to slow down Austin College, falling 90-48 to the host Roos in an SCAC matchup on Saturday night at Hughey Gym.
Sophomore Katey Guzman posted her fifth 20-point game of the season, leading all scorers with 24 points to go with six rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Brianna Bailey made five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points for the Wildcats (4-14, 4-9).
JWU trailed 18-11 after the first quarter but saw its deficit grow larger after getting outscored 34-7 in the second frame. The Roos (17-2, 10-2) had four players in double figures, led by Natalie McCoy with 11.
Austin finished with a 50-31 advantage on the glass and led 44-10 in the paint in winning its fifth straight.
JWU heads to Colorado Springs on Friday to face Colorado College.
