Bob Kintzel begins his third season as head coach of the Wildcat Women's Basketball program in 2018-2019.
Kintzel joined Johnson & Wales University from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. With the Mustangs, Kintzel spent the 2015-16 season as interim head coach after spending the previous season as an assistant for MMU. Under Kintzel, the Mustangs went 16-14 this season and 35-28 overall. As a member of the Mustang's coaching staff, Kintzel saw his teams advance to postseason play in both seasons. Prior to joining MMU, he served as an assistant for two seasons at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The Rams went 45-6 during his tenure and earned back to back conference titles and an NCAA tournament bid.
He spent five seasons as head coach at Mount Vernon High School where his squads went 102-19 and captured three conference championships. At MVHS, the Mustangs won the 2010 Iowa Class 2A state championship and Kintzel was named Iowa Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) State and Regional Coach of the Year in addition to other accolades. His squad returned the next season as runners-up in the Class 3A state tournament, again earning several coaching recognitions.
Kintzel played collegiately at Mount Mercy where he led the Mustangs in scoring and rebounding in 1984-85 and was named team MVP, first-team all-conference and all district and honorable mention all-America. Kintzel was inducted into the Mount Mercy Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Mount Vernon High School State Championship Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013.
