'Cats drop road game at Cumberlands

The Wildcats opened their second game of the 2017 season at the University of the Cumberlands.

Trailing, 1-0 in the opening minute, Kyra Gangemi (Elkton, Md.) got the 'Cats first shot of the game but sent her attempt wide of frame. Hanna Jo Eady (Newnan, Ga.) made her first save of the contest at 24:04 off a free position shot by UC's Rachael Giles. The Patriots continued to pressure the Wildcats throughout the first half. Gangemi saw her free position shot saved with just over 10 minutes left in the first half. Eady had two more saves before the break.

In the second half, the Patriots maintained their offensive output and stalled the 'Cats offense. JWU couldn't break through as they dropped the 0-23 decision. Eady recorded five saves for Johnson & Wales and notched three ground balls.

The Wildcats return home on Saturday for their home opener at 5:30pm MT against Midland University in a KCAC matchup. The game will take place at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on field #10.
