The Wildcats finished a trip to Nebraska on Sunday with an afternoon contest against Midland University.
Madison Herbert (Berthoud, Colo.) had two early saves for Johnson & Wales in the opening minutes and Ashley Guerrero (Downey, Calif.) saw her first attempt saved just five minutes in. The Warriors rattled off five early goals to build some early momentum for Johnson & Wales. Kyra Gangemi (Elkton, Md.) found the back of the net for Johnson & Wales midway through the period. Guerrero scored off a free position shot just over a minute later as the 'Cats cut the deficit to three. By the end of the first period, Midland held the 6-3 advantage.
In the second half, the Warriors added five goals early to push their lead up to 11-3. Midland University continued to control the tempo of the game offensively as they build their lead up. Katie Smith (Livermore, Calif.) got the 'Cats fourth of the game late as JWU fell 17-4.
Guerrero led JWU with two goals and five shots on goal. Maleeya Thompson (Collingswood, N.J.) finished with a team high three ground balls. Herbert had 19 saves for Johnson & Wales.
The 'Cats will take on #5 Keiser University on Wednesday at 3:30pm at Aurora Sports Park.
