BROOKHAVEN, GA - The Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team got off to another strong start, but for the second time in as many games this season the Wildcats couldn't keep the momentum going in a 17-5 non-conference road loss at Oglethorpe on Tuesday.

Sophomore Jochelyn Suglio opened the scoring in the third minute, then assisted on a goal by Ashley Guerrero to give JWU an early 2-0 lead. Guerrero scored twice more in the first half, tying the contest at 5-all at the 8:55 mark, but the host Stormy Petrels netted the final two goals of the first half to take the lead for good. Oglethorpe shut out JWU 10-0 in the second half.

Freshman Jillien Gerace scored for the second straight game this season and had a team-high four ground balls for the Wildcats (0-2), who had 40 turnovers and allowed 45 shots. Sophomore Brigid McCollam made 14 saves against 31 shots on goal for the visitors.

JWU returns to the field Wednesday to face Brevard at 4 p.m. (MT).
