The Wildcats wrapped up the weekend with a Sunday afternoon contest at Marymount College in California.
Victoria Diaz (San Dimas, Calif.) made her first save of the contest in the 8th minute, stopping the attempt by Emily Atkinson. Rebecca Brock (San Antonio, Texas) had the Wildcats first attempt of the contest but her shot went wide of the net. Diaz made another save just a minute later to keep the Mariners off the board.
Natasha Martin (Las Vegas, Nev.) had another attempt for the Wildcats but her attempt also went wide. Atkinson finally broke through in the 24th minute putting a ball past Diaz to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead. Diaz made four more saves before the half as Marymount took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Brock sent another shot wide of target to begin the second half as Johnson & Wales continued to look for the equalizer. The Mariners added two more goals to lead 3-0 in the 63rd minute. Diaz continued to come up with saves as the Mariners kept pressing.
Arianna Flores (Goodyear, Ariz.) forced Marymount's Jessica Ramirez to make a save with 7:16 left in the contest. The Mariners held off the 'Cats to take a 4-0 win over JWU.
Brock led Johnson & Wales with two shots and Flores had one shot on goal for JWU. Diaz made 10 saves and faced 14 shots on target in the match.
The Wildcats will have a short week as they hit the road again for a pair of matches in Arizone beginning Thursday when they take on Arizona Christian University at 6pm MT.
