The Wildcats took on #25 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday night under the lights in Prescott, Arizona.
The host Eagles started the contest with a couple of their attempts off target before Katelyn Peters (Brighton, Colo.) was called on to make a stop on an attempt by Krista Lee in the 12th minute. Breanna Larkin got ERAU on the board in the 23rd minute. Peters made another stop in the 24th minute to keep it a one goal game.
Arianna Flores (Goodyear, Ariz.) put the first shot on frame for Johnson & Wales in the 25th minute but ERAU's Emily Lambert made the save. The Eagles got a second goal in the 39th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Eagles peppered the 'Cats defense with shots but Peters stood tall making three saves over a 75 second period. In the 88th minute, the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick that Megan Currier converted to give ERAU the 5-0 advantage.
Kassidy McKevitt (Fort Collins, Colo.) broke up the clean sheet, taking a pass from Flores and slotting it past the Eagle's keeper. Peters made another save with less then a minute and Flores saw her late shot glance off the cross bar as #25 ERAU held on for the 5-1 win.
Peters made eight saves for Johnson & Wales in the loss and Flores had three shots for JWU.
The Wildcats will have the week off before hosting Lincoln Christian University on Tuesday, October 18 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in an A.I.I. matchup.
