The Wildcats closed out their final road trip of the regular season with a 6-0 victory at Doane University on Saturday.
The first shot of the game saw Johnson & Wales go up 1-0 in the 10th minute as Kelsie Treloar (Conifer, Colo.) found the back of the net. Treloar's attempt in the 11th minute went wide as the Wildcats looked to set the offensive tone. In the 18th minute, Kassidy McKevitt (Fort Collins, Colo.) saw her attempt saved by Hannah Carlstedt. McKevitt broke through in the 21st minute, scoring on her attempt with Rebecca Brock (Amarillo, Texas) picking up the assist. Brock put a shot on target in the 26th minute but Carlstedt made the stop. Natasha Martin (Las Vegas, Nev.) put Johnson & Wales up 3-0 in the 29th minute as she beat Carlstedt with her shot. The Wildcats had to more shots saved in the period as they took the 3-0 lead into the break.
Brock put herself on the scoresheet in the 55th minute putting her attempt past new Doane keeper Morgan Langmack. The 'Cats offense slowed down as the next attempt by Johnson & Wales came in the 72nd minute with Martin's attempt going wide of frame. In the 73rd minute, Martin picked up her second goal of the game as the Wildcats started to regain their momentum. Brianne Godwin (Milpitas, Calif.) had an attempt blocked in the 79th minute and collected the rebound and put it back on target to give the 'Cats a 6-0 advantage. Katelyn Peters (Brighton, Colo.) made her only save of the game just before the final whistle as the 'Cats completed the shutout.
Brock led the 'Cats with three shots on goal and Martin had two goals for Johnson & Wales. The Wildcats put 12 shots on goal and had 20 attempts in the contests.
JWU will host Grace University and Ottawa University (Ariz.) on October 27 & 29 at Aurora Sports Park to close out their regular season schedule.
