Wildcats secure 8-0 shutout victory

The Wildcats began the weekend with an 8-0 victory over Grace University on Friday at Aurora Sports Park.

Asianna Harris (Las Vegas, Nev.) got the first goal of the contest in the second minute as Natasha Martin (Las Vegas, Nev.) passed a ball into the box that was chipped in from four yards out. Martin got a goal of her own in the 8th minute as she received a pass from Rebecca Brock (Amarillo, Texas) and drove the ball up the field and shot from 15 yards out. Just under two minutes later Brock got on the board after driving up the right side and shooting the ball in from six yards out.

In the 14th minute, Martin added to her goal count with a shot to the upper right after Brock sent a pass in. Harris had a shot saved in the 21st minute as the 'Cats looked to keep their momentum going. Martin scored her third of the game in the 29th minute scoring from seven yards out. The 'Cats took a 5-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Kassidy McKevitt (Fort Collins, Colo.) put a shot on target in the 51st minute that Grace's keeper made the stop on. In the 56th minute, Grace was called for a foul in the box and Brock stepped up to the spot and converted the attempt to put JWU up 6-0. In the 63rd minute, the Wildcats were awarded their second PK attempt with Brock again going to the spot. Brock gave the Wildcats the 7-0 lead with her shot from the penalty spot. The 'Cats went up 8-0 in the 74th minute as Jordan Lairamore (Lakewood, Colo.) sent a ball up to Martin who put the ball into the upper right.

The Wildcats finished the game with 17 shots on goal with Martin leading the way with six shots on frame. Victoria Diaz (San Dimas, Calif.) had one save for Johnson & Wales.

The 'Cats will wrap up their season on Sunday when they host Ottawa University (Ariz.) at 12:00pm at Lowry Sports Park.
