Wildcats tabbed 6th in women's soccer poll

DENVER – The Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team has been picked to finish sixth in the SCAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Led by first-year head coach Ria Denny, the Wildcats open the 2019 season Friday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. JWU Denver returns nine players from last year's team, including first-team all-conference forward Natasha Martin and honorable mention goalkeeper Katelyn Peters.

Trinity, which has won the past 10 SCAC women's soccer titles, received all 10 first-place votes from the league's coaches to enter the season as the favorite to repeat.

JWU Denver is entering its second season in the conference after going 5-7-1 and finishing fifth in its inaugural SCAC campaign a year ago.
