Women's soccer drops season opener

CLAREMONT, CA – The Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team opened the season with a 6-0 loss at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday at Pritzlaff Field.

The host Athenas jumped out to a quick start with two goals in the first 5 minutes on the way to establishing to a 4-0 halftime lead.

Senior Rebecca Brock and sophomore Katherine Owings had one shot on goal each for the Wildcats (0-1-0). Along with freshmen Kayta Arbuthnot and Madison Mockler, Brock played all 90 minutes. 

Rhiann Holman scored twice to lead the the CMS attack.

JWU goalkeeper Katelyn Peters made six saves in net for the Wildcats, who wrap up their season-opening road trip Sunday at Redlands (noon MT).
