REDLANDS, CA -- The Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team wrapped up its opening weekend with a 4-1 loss at Redlands University on Sunday.

Freshman Jina Alvis scored the first goal of the season for the Wildcats (0-2-0) on a short cross from the far side in the 59th minute. Alvis' goal came just seconds after the Bulldogs had extended their 2-0 halftime lead. The JWU Denver goal was answered quickly by Redlands to make it a three-score game.

JWU registered two other shots on goal, one each by freshman Brooke Ford and senior Rebecca Brock. Senior goalkeeper Katelyn Peters made four saves in net for the Wildcats.

JWU returns to the pitch Friday, Sept. 6 to host Bethel College for its home opener.
