DENVER – After leading the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team to a pair of victories over the weekend, senior forward Natasha Martin was named the SCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Playing her first contest of the season coming off an off-season foot injury, Martin lifted the Wildcats to a thrilling 1-0 win over Bethel College on Friday thanks to her 80th-minute goal off a feed from classmate Rebecca Brock.
Two days later Martin went off for four goals in an 8-0 win over Mills College. It took less than a half-hour for the senior to earn a hat trick, helping JWU establish a commanding 5-0 lead with her strike in the 29th minute assisted by classmate Amanda Fischer.
Martin's four-goal effort is tied for fifth with several others for the SCAC single-game record for goals in a game. Despite playing just two games so far this year, Martin leads the conference with five goals.
The Wildcats return to action Friday in their SCAC opener against St. Thomas.
