Arbuthnot nets first goal in loss to Southwestern

AURORA - Freshman Kayta Arbuthnot scored her first goal as a Wildcat during Sunday's SCAC match against visiting Southwestern, a 4-1 victory by the visiting Pirates over the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team. 

Arbuthnot's score in the 82nd minute was set up by a beautiful through ball from fellow freshman Brooke Ford, allowing Arbuthnot to dribble past the the SU defense and beat keeper Mary Cardone. 

Southwestern's Juliet Pridgen scored two first-half goals in the span of 2 minutes to give the visitors a 2-0 lead en route to the conference win. 

The Wildcats totaled 10 shots, their most in four SCAC matchups this season, with five on target. Senior keeper Katelyn Peters made four saves for JWU while classmate Natasha Martin had three shots on goal. 

The Wildcats continue conference play next weekend at Dallas on Friday and at Austin on Sunday.
