Three Wildcats earn All-SCAC recognition

DENVER - Three members of the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team received all-conference recognition by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, announced by the league Thursday. 

Senior Natasha Martin was named to the All-SCAC second team after leading the Wildcats with eight goals and 19 points, ranking fifth in the conference in both categories. Martin received all-conference honors for the third consecutive season after earning first-team recognition each of the past two seasons. Martin wrapped up her record-setting JWU Denver career as the program's all-time leader in goals (33) and points (80) and second in assists (14).

Senior Rebecca Brock was named an All-SCAC honorable mention. Brock was second on the team with three goals and eight points to go with two asssits, bringing her team-record career assist total to 16.

"It's encouraging to be recognized for my abilities," Brock said. 

Freshman Kayta Arbuthnot was also named an All-SCAC honorable mention. Arbuthnot, who received a first-place vote for Newcomer of the Year, helped solidifed the JWU defense, making eight starts in her freshman season for the Wildcats. Arbuthnot also scored one goal and totaling four shots.
