JWU has strong showing at Colorado

The Wildcats headed to Boulder on Saturday for the University of Colorado's Invitational.

Brandi Williams-Beck (San Antonio, Texas) tied for ninth in the 100 meters with a finish of 12.74 seconds while Kelci Freeman (Ramona, Calif.) finished in 17th at 13.73. In the 200 meters, Williams-Beck finished in 15th at 26.57 and Freeman was 28th at 29.39. The 3000 meter race saw Samantha Barela (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finish in 14th at 11:16.51 followed by Olivia Redmann (Englewood, Fla.) in 18th at 11:38.99.

In the field events, Katie Malachinski (Stevensville, Mont.) cleared 1.55 meters in the high jump on her first attempt a that height. In the long jump, Malachinski had a jump of 4.59 meters in her second attempt. The shotput saw Sandy Chavez (San Bernardino, Calif.) tossed to a distance of 8.27 meters. 

The Wildcats will head to Colorado State University on April 22 for the Jack Christianson Invitational.
