Wildcats open indoor season at School of Mines

GOLDEN -- The Johnson & Wales women's track and field team opened the indoor season Friday at the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi, highlighted by junior Rebecca Brock's seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run. Brock (Amarillo, Texas) crossed in 2:40.03, ahead of teammate Rachel Seligson who placed eighth.

Brock's altitude-adjusted 800 time of 2:36.29 set an indoor program record, breaking her previous mark from the CU Invitational last January.  Seligson (Palo Alto, Calif.) edged Brock in the 1-mile by a margin of just 0.09 seconds with a time of 6:21.10 to finish 10th. Seligson's time was the second-fastest indoor 1-mile race in team history.

Jenna Bonfardine and Catherine Carbeck both finished in the top 15 in the 200-meter run. Bonfardine (Culpepper, Va.) was also 16th in the 60 dash with an altitude adjusted time of 8.51, ranking No. 2 in the team record book.
