Brock places 6th at SCAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO – Junior Rebecca Brock (Amarillo, TX) led the Johnson & Wales University women's track and field team at Saturday's SCAC Championships with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run. Brock crossed the finish line in 2 minutes, 26.05 seconds, to earn two points for the Wildcats.

Teammate Teagan Gutka (North Pole, AK) came in 17th in the 800 in 3:15.44. Gutka also earned a 19th place finish in the 1,500 in 6:40.46.

Brock later joined Catherine Carbeck (Phoenix, AZ), Virginia Gautier (Fort Worth, TX) and Jenna Bonfardine (Culpepper, VA) to place fifth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:32.42.

Bonfardine began the day by placing eighth in the 100 dash in 13:01. In the 400, Carbeck was ninth in 1:04.79 while Gautier was 11th in 1:05.92.

Junior Rachel Seligson (Palo Alto, CA) ran the 5,000 in 20:47.89 to finish 11th. As a team, JWU Denver placed seventh with three points.
