JWU Denver tabbed 10th in preseason poll

DENVER – The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team was picked to finish 10th in the SCAC Preseason Predicted Order of Finish, released by the conference on Thursday.

Defending league champ Colorado College was tabbed to repeat, collecting 8 of a possible 10 first-place votes from the SCAC head coaches. Trinity earned the other first-place votes to finish second in the poll, followed by Southwestern.

Third-year JWU Denver head coach Alicia Roth and the Wildcats will open the 2019 campaign by hosting the Mile High Challenge Aug. 30-31 at the Wildcat Center.

JWU will begin the year by playing 12 straight contests at home, including its SCAC conference opener Friday, Sept. 20 against Texas Lutheran and Austin College.

The Wildcats return their top two offensive producers from a year ago in seniors Brooke Paxton and Ashlee Ruehs, who both ranked in the top 10 in the SCAC in kills per set in 2018.
