JWU comes up short vs. Wayland Baptist

DENVER -- The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team wrapped up the Mile High Challenge with a 3-0 loss to visiting Wayland Baptist on Saturday night at the Wildcat Center. 

Senior Brooke Paxton led the Wildcats with eight kills and 16 digs while freshman Hope Hines had seven kills. JWU finished with five total blocks, including three assists each by freshmen Sierra Martin and Hunter Halbower

The Wildcats also got 10 digs and a pair of aces from sophomore Kaitlin Jones while Ashlee Ruehs finished with 12 assists. 

Tatijana Markic had 17 kills and Amber Daniel had 14 for the visiting Pioneers, who wrapped up the tournament 3-1. 

The Wildcats return to the Wildcat Center for a scrimmage on Tuesday to host Northeastern Junior College before hosting the Wildcat Invitational next weekend, Sept. 6-7.
