No. 9 Tigers tame Wildcats

DENVER -- The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team continued SCAC play at home Saturday with a 3-0 loss to visiting Trinity University. 

After outlasting Texas Lutheran in five sets earlier in the day, the ninth-ranked Tigers hit .333 against the Wildcats to move to 3-0 in conference play. 

Senior Brooke Paxton led JWU Denver (2-9, 0-3) with 11 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Hope Hines added nine kills and six digs while senior Ashlee Ruehs had 11 assists, three digs and three kills. Sophomore Jacquelyn Ortiz chipped in 12 assists and classmate Kaitlin Jones finished with 10 digs. 

Avery Tuggle had 16 kills to pace the Tigers, who served up nine aces. 

The Wildcats wrap up the weekend Saturday evening against St. Thomas.
