KERRVILLE, TX - The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team completed this weekend's cross-divisional at Schreiner University with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-25-15, 25-22, 25-11) loss to the host Mountaineers.

Senior Brooke Paxton led the Wildcats with 14 kills to go with 12 digs. Freshman Hope Hines totaled eight kills and 17 digs while sophomore Jacquelyn Ortiz racked up 24 assists.

After winning the final three points of the first set to take the lead in the match, the Wildcats were unable to carry that momentum over to the rest of the match. JWU made a late run with four straight points in the third set to pull within a point, 22-21, but a pair of errors helped the Mountaineers close out the set.

The Wildcats will now take a break from conference play and head to Colorado Springs on Friday for the Pikes Peak Challenge against Randolph-Macon and Illinois College.
