Wildcats fall to Illinois College

COLORADO SPRINGS - The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team concluded the first day of the Colorado College Invitational with a 3-0 loss (25-21, 25-17, 25-17) loss to Illinois College. 

The Wildcats (2-20) made a late rally in the first set - hitting .220 for the game - but couldn't finish off the comeback and were unable to match the Lady Blues in the second and third sets. 

Freshman Hope Hines and senior Brooke Paxton each had 10 kills for JWU Denver while sophomore Jacquelyn Ortiz finished with a season-best 29 assists. 

Sophomore Kaitlin Jones came up with 11 digs and freshman Elyse Swensen had seven kills and three block assists for the Wildcats. 

JWU concludes the tournament Sunday at home against DePauw for the Wildcasts' senior day when they'll honor the careers of Paxton and Ashlee Ruehs
